We'll miss you Mr. Friedman,

At age 94 the father of sound economic teachings has died. Milton Friedman is his name and he passed away today; we shall all miss him. If you like this blog I encourage you to scan the internet for articles written by Mr. Friedman. You will no doubt learn a lot.

Economics is lacking in important places,

I personally like Tim Russert, but he should brush up on his economics. Take a look at this video to see what i mean.

Educating the masses,

Many people who understand simple rules during a sports event, can't understand the same rules when it comes to economics. The people who immediately call for government to lower gas prices as soon as the economy takes a dip, wouldn't immediately place a player on the bench for striking out one time during the World Series.

Forget the facts and figures,

Here's a humorous quote I heard recently; if you understand this quote then your understanding of Capitalism is good.

"The big difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs less."

Forget about those fancy facts and figures.....that quote describes Capitalism's truths well.

Good point Tom,

Tom Sullivan of KFBK radio made an excellent point on his show. He said that that a lot of investors fail to understand the logic of buying and selling. A lot of investors want to get out of the market when prices of stocks drop and they wish to get into the stock market once prices go up. As Tom correctly pointed out it should be the exact opposite; people should act the same way towards prices on Wall Street as they do towards prices at Macy's. In other words buy when the price is low, don't panic. Common sense helps a lot in Capitalist countries.

Why?

Ok this is an easy one. Why does anyone need to have the government steal their hard earned money and give it to someone else? I could make this a fancy post but it gets no simpler than that. Anti-Capitalists want to steal money and redistribute it. Why? Perhaps politicians, school teachers, and some of today's parents teach our young people that it is a noble thing. Perhaps.

Inside the mind of a Capitalist,

Here's a good quote by Leo Buscaglia

"Value yourself. The only people who apprecaite a doormat are people with dirty shoes." -Leo F Buscaglia
