I was just discharged from the Army, hence me being gone, but Im looking forward to teaching economics again!

Keeping success valuable,

With all the talk about Wal-Mart shutting down small businesses, let me give you a direct statement. Here it is: Those businesses that are shut down by Wal-Mart deserve to fail. For two main reasons (1) Those businesses have failed in offering goods and services that most people consider to be valuable. (2) Success is cheapened if we do not allow failure to happen when it is deserved. It is damned difficult for a mom and pop shop to compete with Wal-Mart. But until the mom and pop shops stand up to Wal-Mart and compete they shall never experience the joy of a David versus Goliath type victory. Great success only happens when failure is faced and accepted. When failure is not faced, success is weakened and loses its great value.

Longing for Reaganomics,

Ronald Reagan understood the beauty of Capitalism. He knew that big government is Capitalism's biggest enemy. After teaching us that lesson, he told the nation that: "Nothing lasts longer than a temporary government program." Unfortunately President Bush has spoken in favor of a temporary worker program for illegal aliens from Mexico.(During his speech to the nation 5/15/2006) Temporary....yea, sure.

Should we tone it down?

On the May, 14th 2006 edition of Meet The Press......host Tim Russert asked if bloggers, talk radio, and cable news should "tone it down"? (tone down the rhetoric he says). I like Tim Russert personally, but I have to wonder just why he would ask such a question. Readers of my blog have achieved a better appreciation for Capitalism. All the other media outlets he mentioned also have done a good job of getting pro-American messages out there. I will continue to watch and enjoy Tim Russert for now, but I must say I am disappointed.

Ideas for sell,

We all have ideas and thanks to Capitalism we can profit from them. It is easy to see this in action when someone invents a car and sells it. But if you look at it deeper you see that the design of the car had to be thought of, so did the car's color, and so did the design of the car's interior. All people with such ideas can make money under a Capitalist system. If you are not in good physical health to lift heavy equipment on an assembly line, then you could learn to paint and sell portraits. Aren't you glad that Capitalism makes anybody with ideas a success?

A perfect time ,

With all the discussion of gas prices going on, I want to ask you to think outside of the box. Instead of focusing on the gas prices and the solution to them, take this time to focus on what people are saying and remember the names of the people who attack Capitalism as being responsible for high gas prices. Don't let them get away with denying that they are Socialists later on.

What I've learned while away,

During the lengthy time I've been absent from this blog, Ive had time to read a good book that helped me better appreciate America's vision of freedom. The book was Days of Infamy by Harry Turtledove. In short it is a "what if" fiction story of the Japanese capturing Hawaii shortly after Pearl Harbor. Prison camps (Japanese prison camps) were set up in Hawaii and American soldiers were fed little or nothing to eat and treated very badly. It helped me realize that if liberal ideas prevail and today's terrorists win .......poverty (liberals hate poverty,you know) could be forced upon Americans by our enemy. May all Capitalists take heed and fight to win this war.
